Manager - Foundation Relations |
|

Supervised By: Vice President/Development
Function: Responsible for development, implementation, and management
of grant solicitations.
Principle duties:
• Develop, implement and manage all large and small scale
grant applications to successfully meet
organizational goals and objectives.
• Research foundation prospects.
• Develop grant calendar based on foundations deadlines and
organizations timeline.
• Write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other forms
of requests.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with foundations.
• Track and complete follow-up reports to funders.
• Develop and manage annual plans and budgets to support position
activities and responsibilities.
• Coordinate tasks associated with position responsibilities
including development of proposals,
supporting materials, mailings, financial procedures, and follow
up reporting.
• Oversee grants written by other staff members.
• Adhere to organizational grants policies and procedures.
• Provide regular grant status reports and maintain spreadsheet
to support position activities.
• Properly recognize and thank funders.
• Attend all meetings and events related to job responsibilities.
• Follow and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide support to other departments and organization activities
and programs as directed.
• Maintain membership in Puget Sound Grantwriters Association.
• Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to,
writing newsletter features and web content.
• Work closely with the entire development team near and on
event days.
Qualifications:
•Bachelors (Masters Degree a plus).
•Minimum three years experience in grant development (or equivalent
experience).
•Excellent communication skills in public speaking and writing.
•Experience in non-profit sector, working with volunteers
and donors.
•Excellent organizational skills.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook.
•Ability to work independently and as a team member.
•Professional appearance and demeanor.

Position Title: Development (Fundraising)

Description: Looking for junior or senior in college or university
and/or graduate students as an intern(s) to assist with all aspects
of a $3.5 million Development Department.
Duties to include: event marketing, database entry and management,
acknowledgment letters, corporate sponsorship follow-through, prospect
research, assistance with special events, and more.
This is a great opportunity to gain real-world understanding of
a fast-paced mid-sized development office. Internship calls for
15-20 hours per week. Preferably, a college or university intern
would commit to an entire quarter or semester.
Qualifications desired:
•Experience in non-profit world, working as and with volunteers
and donors.
•Strong organizational, written and communications skills.
•Ability to work independently as well as a team member.

Function:
Work with staff throughout Special Olympics Washington (SOWA) to
understand its mission, vision, goals and objectives; while recognizing
opportunities that may be of interest to the public and/or the media.
Assist in producing outreach materials such as volunteer flyers,
fact sheets, talking points and other promotional materials. This
would also include press releases for newspapers and electronic
media correspondence and articles for publication.
Assist in strategizing, developing and implementing a volunteer
recruitment plan and contribute in the organizing of community outreach
events.
Principle duties:
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a presence
on social networking pages and blogs such as Face book and MySpace
• Assist in the planning and development and communication
of information designed to keep public informed of SOWA programs
and accomplishments
• Research and write articles and stories for publication
on the SOWA website and over the internet
• Gathers and verifies factual information through interviews,
observation, and research. Organizes material and writes according
to prescribed editorial style and format standards
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally
and in writing; mastery of English language usage, spelling, grammar,
and punctuation
• Prepares and/or edits organizational publications, such
as employee newsletters, and the intranet
• Prepares and distributes fact sheets, news releases, photographs
or video recordings to media representatives and others interested
in learning about Special Olympics Washington
• Assist in the development of partnerships with other sports
organizations
• Provide program input (suggestions, criticisms, improvement,
and ideas) as a member of the SOWA team
• Attend Special Olympics Washington (SOWA) activities and
events as directed by the State Director Public Affairs and Outreach.
These events may include; local and regional competitions and state
games

• College senior, Bachelor degree or certificate of completion
